WORKSHOPS

ICLAD workshops give participants hands-on experience in legislative problem-solving.
Workshop participants not only learn legislative problem-solving theory and methodology, but they use it as a guide to produce research reports and bills on topics of national concern. In ICLAD's intensive one- to three-week workshops, participants identify key social problems, examine available evidence about the behaviors underlying those problems, and begin to draft research reports and bills addressing the problematic behaviors.

ICLAD workshops often include participants with diverse kinds of knowledge and skills.
Workshops provide a rare opportunity to bring legislative drafters, government officials, university faculty, and, when desired, legislators or civil society representatives together. Diverse kinds of expertise and experience produce solutions grounded in facts. Workshops can also target the needs of specific participants in the lawmaking process.

ICLAD offers ongoing support and additional resources to make learning sustainable.
Alumni of ICLAD workshops enter our Alumni Partnership Program, which follows up with participants as they work on bills started in the workshop. Many workshop participants also enroll in ICLAD e-Learning courses, in which they can finalize their research reports and bills with support from ICLAD's well-qualified consultants and editors.
