CONSULTATION AND CAPACITY BUILDING

We develop and implement comprehensive programs to strengthen lawmaking processes. We work with our local partners to institutionalize legislative strengthening programs throughout their countries' law-making spheres. These efforts include building the capacity of local civil society participants to contribute to these processes, and developing participatory lawmaking mechanisms. We assemble international teams of instructors and consultants that have the legal, substantive, and country-specific expertise to deliver targeted, integrated programs.

ICLAD collaborates with our local partners to customize programs to local needs.
We approach each project with creativity and openness, focusing on effectively addressing country-specific needs, rather than replicating programs or solutions implemented in other polities. We work with our partners to modify our unique tools and resources for effective local use. We engage in ongoing collaborative needs assessment and revise our offerings, materials, and objectives to meet to the changing needs of our alumni and partners. Read more

We support our local partners as they lead their own sustainable, ongoing programs.
ICLAD supports the development of on-going, in-country programs to equip legislators, government officials and staff, university faculty, and civil society participants to engage in law-making processes that foster good governance and development. We equip our alumni and partners to achieve their own goals, rather than embedding outside specialists in their institutions. We continue to assist our alumni through our Alumni Partnership Program, and we support self-reliant, in-country training and research initiatives through ongoing consultation and collaboration.
