Fitriani Ahlan SjarifLecturer on Legislative Drafting, Faculty of Law - University of Indonesia
Fitriani Sjarif graduated from the University of Indonesia's Faculty of Law in 1998. In the Spring of 2001 she participated in the Residence Program at Boston University, sponsored by ELIPS-USAID. Now, she is preparing her thesis for her Masters degree at the University of Indonesia, and will graduate this year. Fitriani has facilitated legislative trainings as part of the University of Indonesia's Center of Legislative Drafting. Those trainings were held in cooperation with the University of Indonesia's Center for Legislative Drafting, NGOs, private companies, and governmental institutions from both the regional level and national level; such as the Supreme Court, Central Bank, some local governments, the Department of Transportation, etc. She has also facilitated legislative drafting trainings with the Seidmansfor ELIPS-USAID in Jakarta. In 2002, ELIPS-USAID had a project to put the materials of "Assessing Legislation" onto a CD-ROM. Ms. Sjarif and her colleagues set up half-day seminars in nine cities. The aim of those seminars was to help the legislator and bureaucrats in the regional level to assess the law, and to provide tools for making effective and good laws. The seminars held in cooperation with colleagues from the state university's Center for Legislative Drafting, and were attended by approximately nine-hundred participants. Ms. Sjarif has drafted laws such as the Mutual Legal Assistance Law, Building Law, Warehouse Law, Procurement Law, and has written accompanying research reports. |
